Using our differences positively is a great way to bring about change

Democracy and Diversity

Whilst lining up to vote at Melbourne Town Hall on Saturday, I noticed a young man wearing a very short school girls uniform and a blond wig, having just done his civic duty. And I also noticed a young member of the Sex Party having a chat and a laugh with an older member of the Liberals - our most conservative major party. And I got to reflecting (again) on how good it is to live in a diverse community.

But what a topsy-turvy world Australian politics has turned out to be. It seems we cant make up our minds who we like, but it seems we like the colour green. And the guys who back themselves. Four unaligned men will hold the balance of power and they are all very different. (Shame there weren't a few more independent women).

Which is my point - diversity is great - providing you can harness it. To know how I am different from you , and in what ways, how we we can best use our strengths is surely the most hopeful way for bringing about positive change, whether it be for the country or the company. And if there are any pollies out there wishing to understand their psychological profile a little better - I'd be happy to hear from you!
